CloudEx Inc. ("we", "us") provides the Android app "Phone Cleaner Pro" (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Our Approach
Phone Cleaner Pro is a file manager and cleaner that helps you organize your device's storage and free up space. Searching, analyzing, deleting and compressing files all happen on your device. We never collect or upload your files, or send them to our servers. Specifically, we have no access to any of the following:
- The files on your device and their contents (photos, videos, music, documents, downloads and so on)
- File names and folder structure
- Photos, videos and files that messaging apps such as LINE have saved on your device
- The results of photo analysis (the data used to find similar or blurry photos)
- The list of apps installed on your device, or how you use each app
Your files leave your device only when you yourself choose to share or send them (for example, sending over Bluetooth).
2. Processing on Your Device
- Scanning and cleaning: Finding junk files, large files and duplicate files, and detecting duplicates (by comparing file hashes), all happen on your device.
- Photo cleanup: Detection of similar photos and of blurry, dark or overexposed photos is calculated on your device from downsized copies of the photos, and the results are stored in a database on your device.
- Photo and video compression: Compression happens on your device. When compressing photos, the original photos are moved to the Trash.
- Trash: Deleted files stay in the Trash on your device for the retention period you choose and are deleted automatically once it has passed.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information Sent Automatically
- Anonymous crash reports: We use Firebase Crashlytics. When the App crashes, it collects where the error occurred (stack trace), the device model, the OS version and the App version. File contents and file names are not included.
- App usage statistics: We use Google Analytics for Firebase. It collects anonymous app usage events (such as app launches) together with device information, which we use to understand and improve how the App is used overall. We do not collect your device's advertising ID (AAID). File contents and file names are not included.
- Purchase information: To verify your one-time "Premium" purchase, we use the purchase information issued by Google Play. We never receive payment details such as credit card numbers.
- Introductions to our other apps: To introduce our other apps within the App, the App downloads the list of apps from a location we host on Cloudflare. This request sends no information about you or the files on your device (as with any web browsing, network information such as your IP address reaches the host).
3.2 Information Stored Only on Your Device
- App settings: Settings such as excluded folders, the Trash retention period and the theme.
- Cleaning records: Such as the total amount of space you have freed so far.
- Photo analysis results: Values calculated from downsized copies of your photos, used to find similar photos and similar cases.
- Battery history (only if enabled): Records of charging and discharging for the past 14 days.
This data is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data.
3.3 Information We Do Not Collect
- The contents or names of files on your device, or your photos and videos
- Location information such as GPS
- Phone numbers, contacts, device IDs or advertising IDs
- Wi-Fi network names (SSIDs)
- Web browsing history or the contents of your communications
3.4 Permissions the App Requests and Why
Phone Cleaner Pro uses the following permissions only for the purposes described. Information obtained through these permissions never leaves your device.
- All files access — Used for file management (browsing, copying, moving, deleting and compressing) and to find junk files, large files and duplicate files.
- Usage access (optional) — Used to show each app's storage and cache size and when it was last used. All other features work without it.
- List of installed apps — Used for app management, to identify leftover folders of uninstalled apps, and to tell whether an APK file is already installed.
- Request to uninstall apps — Used to uninstall the apps you select. Uninstallation always goes through Android's confirmation screen.
- Notifications (optional) — Used to show the progress of file operations, auto-clean results and reminders, and the always-on battery, memory and CPU display (only if enabled).
- Foreground service — Used so that deleting, copying and compressing files can finish even after you leave the App, and for the always-on display.
- Display over other apps (optional) — Used only if you choose to show battery or memory figures as a floating display. It never reads what is on your screen.
- Run at startup — Used to resume the always-on display after your device restarts.
- Prevent sleep — Used to keep video compression running while the screen is off.
- Internet / network state / Wi-Fi state — Used for Premium purchases, anonymous crash reports and usage statistics, introductions to our other apps, and to show your connection status on the device information screen. Cleaning files does not require an internet connection.
4. How We Use Information
We use the limited information we collect only for the following purposes:
- Providing and maintaining the App
- Verifying Premium purchases
- Understanding and improving how the App is used overall
- Diagnosing and fixing crashes
- Responding to support inquiries
- Complying with applicable laws
5. Advertising
The App does not include any advertising mechanism (ad SDK). We do not collect information for advertising purposes or share information with advertising networks. The App may introduce our other apps.
6. Third-Party Services
Phone Cleaner Pro uses the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — anonymous crash diagnostics
- Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC) — anonymous app usage statistics
- Google Play Billing (Google LLC) — Premium purchases; payment is handled entirely by Google Play
- Google Play In-App Review and In-App Updates (Google LLC) — rating requests and notices of new versions
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.) — delivery of the list of our other apps
7. Data Retention
- Crash reports: kept for 90 days, then deleted.
- Usage statistics: kept in Google Analytics for up to 14 months, then deleted.
- Settings, records and analysis results stored on your device: kept until you uninstall the App or clear its data.
- Files moved to the Trash: deleted automatically once the retention period you chose has passed.
8. International Data Transfers
We are based in Japan. The infrastructure used for crash diagnostics and usage statistics may be located in various countries. By using the App, the minimal information described above may be processed outside your country of residence under standard contractual safeguards.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, the UK, California or Japan), you may have the right to access, correct or delete the limited information we hold. You can:
- Revoke any permission you granted to the App (such as usage access, notifications or display over other apps) at any time in your device settings
- Delete the settings, records and analysis results on your device by uninstalling the App or clearing its data
- Contact us at the address below with any request regarding information we hold
10. Children's Privacy
Phone Cleaner Pro is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age that applies where you live). If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from such a child, we will delete it promptly after being contacted.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version is always published at this URL together with its effective date.
